'...by the authorities concerned'

So, no access to e-mail throughout the country. A sign posted at the business center at our hotel in Yangon (Rangoon) states:

Being a controlled facility in Myanmar, Internet Access is unfortunately restricted. Please not that websites and chat software as listed below have been blocked by the authorities concerned.

Of course, Yahoo mail is on there.

Anyway, we are in Yangon at the Trader's Hotel. Our room on the 17th floor overlooks the Shwedegon Pagoda, a huge, golden pagoda that is basically the symbol of the country.

Going to the Embassy at 11:30 to meet up with our friends Walter and Alex and go to lunch.

Much more later, but suffice it to say that on numerous ocassions in Bagan Katherine said "I feel like we are in an Indiana Jones movie." It was very cool.

And Inle lake was, literally, very cool. A balmy 82 degrees. Katherine wished she had brought a sweater for dinner.

Tomorrow AM to Bangkok and down to Krabi for a few days on the beach.
