This house...is clean.

Saturday night was Awk Phan Saa, or the end of Buddhist lent, which includes a tradition of lighting small boats on fire and launching them into the river. It is an absolution of sorts, with all the bad things from the previous year going with the fire boat.

People also have ceremonial fireboats at their houses.

This year, one of our guards made a fireboat for our house. The whole fire boat thing was on Saturday night, but I was in Siem Reap, so was unable to see the lovely palm frond boat that he made for us. By the time I returned on Sunday, it was all over.

Katherine took pictures, though.

So it seems our souls have been cleansed...which is nice.
