Sure, it's impressive for an Asian building, but it is nothing compared to the Sears Tow..er...oh wait

Well, we are here, literally in the shadow of the Petronas Towers, late of tallest buildings in the world fame, now relegated to tallest twin towers in the world category by that upstart Taipei One building in Taiwan.

Anyway, the Mandarin Oriental (luxury, yes) is right next door to the towers, so our view out our 17th floor window is something like a 2 year old's view of a 6' tall man. We are basically looking at the buildings' knees or something.

But if we get down on our haunches and crane our necks skyward, we can see the top of the towers...FROM OUR ROOM!!!! How cool is that?

Answer; very cool.

Anyway, I was knocked down by some sort of illness earlier this week, and it is lingering, so I am off to find a nap, either by the pool or in our luxuriously appointed room (there's even a small fridge with what I believe to be free booze and snacks in it), depending on what Katherine wants to do.

Michael and Mary Beth arrive at 11:00 pm tonight.

We're back in Vientiane Monday night.
