Nature...for now

A few scenes from the flight back to Fort Frances, Ontario, just across the border from International Falls, MN. This is Rainy Lake, which is just south of Lake Manitou, where the cabin is.


So is this.


What you don't see is the large swaths of cleared land that we fly over. The land is cleared to feed the main reason that International Falls and Fort Frances exist, the pulp and paper plant that spans both sides of the border.


Mountains of logs on the Canadian side. You can't really see the scope of this lumber dump, but believe me, it's big. Although I guess by looking at the houses in the foreground you get the idea.
