The site in Sekong had very ferrous soil, meaning that using traditional clearance equipment is not possible, as they look for metal, and the whole ground gives off a metal-like signature. So they use a special device to map the entire area, download the data to a computer, then read out what areas are MORE metal than others, then use traditional detectors in those spots.
