From the files of WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE

Now, the comforting thing is that we've been dealing with this for about 7 months. Well, roughly since we got here, I guess. It's just that the US media has turned its attention to the possibility of Avian Flu, so now you're hearing about it.

At least until Britney Spears gets divorced, or Michael Jackson gets indicted again, anyway.

But this is not a new story. My expert opinion is that, while a global pandemic may indeed hit, it will just take out the evil-doers, thus winning the war on terror for us good guys.

Who ever thought birds could be a weapon of mass destruction?

Secretary Leavitt and his delegation arrive tomorrow afternoon, and leave Thursday. So we'll have exactly 24 hours to rest before my parents arrive on Friday. At least Luther and Marilyn are flying commercial.

It makes life so much easier....for me.

U.S Health Secretary Warns of Flu Pandemic

BANGKOK, Thailand

The likelihood of a human flu pandemic is very high, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt warned Monday as he sought Southeast Asian cooperation to combat the spread of bird flu.

Leavitt and the director of the World Health Organization are touring Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam to seek their collaboration in preparing for the anticipated public health emergency linked to the H5N1 strain of the disease.....
