Yes, very quiet

So the radish and honey doesn't work so well.

Other than that, things have been quiet so not much to report.

Diana and Alan are in residence and holiday parties abound in Kyiv. The economy is tanking, like everywhere but worse, and we've been hit with sleety snow that freezes on the streets, sidewalks and our car.

We're counting down to January 30 when we return to Thailand and Laos for a 3 week vacation.

The secret to curing a cold in Ukraine....

Black radish and honey.

Larisa, our beloved nanny/housekeeper, has had just about enough of our American doctors. And since Jack has had a cold for a month and seen three different American doctors and an American nurse, I don't blame her. None of them have been able to cure his runny nose or cough.

So she arrived today with her mother's Ukrainian cure: a black radish. She cut a very small hole in it, added lots of honey and set it on top of a tea cup.

A few hours later, she feed the liquid that seeped into the teacup (a radishy smelly honey) to Jack who ate it willingly, and this is from a kid who usually refuses all medicines, but I'd honestly never tried anything soaked in honey.....
